The Story Behind Wynroy Hot Yoga

Wynroy Hot Yoga is more than just a name—it’s a legacy. It’s a tribute to the people who shaped me and the values that drive everything we do here.

The name "Wynroy" is inspired by my grandparents, Winifred and Roy Gardam. Though I never had the chance to meet them, as they passed before I was born, I’ve always felt their presence through the stories my dad shared and the deep respect he holds for them. I share that connection with him. They are a part of me, and now, a part of this studio.

My love for history and family led me to trace our roots back to the time of William the Conqueror. Our family name was originally Gardham, and our ancestors lived on a property called Low Gardham Farm near Beverley, York. That land remained in our family for generations. The first of our lineage to settle in Australia was Stephen George Gardham, who journeyed from England with his wife Ann Leggott and built a life in Tasmania.

Recently, I had the chance to share a meaningful experience with my dad—traveling together to visit Low Gardham Farm. Standing beside him in front of the sign that marked our ancestral land was a powerful reminder of where we came from and the legacy we carry. It brought our family history to life in a way that deeply moved us both.

But Wynroy is not just about looking back—it's also about the strength that carries us forward. That strength has always been embodied by my mum. Her unwavering support, resilience, and determination have shaped who I am. She has been a constant force in my life, and the courage and energy she radiates are at the heart of Wynroy Hot Yoga. This studio reflects not only the legacy of those who came before, but the powerful presence of a woman who continues to inspire me every single day.

Wynroy Hot Yoga is built on family, history, strength, and love. It’s a space where all of that comes together—and it’s only just the beginning.
